The successful candidate will report to the Head of Financial Accounting and International Tax , and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following:
Key Responsibility: Tax Planning and Strategy
Core Tasks:
- Align tax strategy with business strategy and corporate structure.
- Interpret the strategy laid out by the Group and implement the necessary strategy to achieve these objectives.
- Keep management and Group board informed of changes to the organisation’s tax landscape.
- Provide tax advice on company specific transactions, including reviewing relevant procurement and customer contracts where necessary.
- Due diligence and structuring support for mergers and acquisitions
Key Responsibility: Direct and Indirect Taxes
Core Tasks:
- Oversee and manage the tax compliance and risk function for the SEACOM Group.
- Ensure that all deadlines in respect to tax compliance are adhered to.
- Review of deferred tax line items, current tax expenses/credits and withholding tax paid/payable and assist local accountants with tax reporting.
- Review Income Tax, VAT and WHT returns and ensure compliance.
- Assist with the compilation of tax and deferred tax calculations.
- Ensure correct accounting of tax payments and tax assessments.
- Overseeing responses to audits by revenue authorities in various jurisdictions
- Report to internal stakeholders on (expected) tax metrics, both on actuals as well as plan based.
Key Responsibility: International Taxes
Core Tasks:
- Implement and further develop Group tax strategy.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks within the region.
- Coordinate multi-territory and cross-border tax related activities.
- Implementation of transfer pricing methodologies, as appropriate.
- Monitor and execute tax related compliance with various stakeholders (Country by Country reporting, Economic Substance rules)
Key Responsibility: People Management
Core Tasks:
- To create a customer centric service culture in the tax function
- To support the finance team in the achievement of its objectives and the company’s objectives as a whole in a manner that is guided by Seacom values and business objectives.
- Ensure that all staff adhere to group HR policies.
Generally, do all such things which, although not specifically referred to herein, are necessary and/or required for the due, proper and efficient rendering of the services for the purposes contemplated by this role.
EDUCATION:
- Hons BCom Accounting
- Post Graduate studies in Tax (HDip Tax)
- Relevant professional qualification (CA (SA)/LLB an advantage
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- At least 6 years’ taxation experience of which a minimum of 3 years must be in Corporate Tax in a consulting environment (Big 4)

- Corporate Tax Structuring exposure and inter-company transaction structuring in the context of transfer pricing
