The successful candidate will report to the Digital Infrastructure – East Africa and Middle East and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following:
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Sales & Revenue Growth
Core Tasks.
- Wholesale Excellence: Drive the growth of the wholesale business in Tanzania by selling high-capacity solutions (Fibre deployment, Submarine capacity, and Local Access).
- Revenue & Cash Flow: Deliver on sales revenue targets and ensure timely cash flow collection in a cost-effective manner, aligned with the MD’s regional budget.
- Global Account Coordination: Coordinate with the MD to ensure that global Otts and Pan-African accounts operating in Tanzania receive standardized strategy, pricing, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities: Infrastructure & Market Development
Core Tasks.
- Market Expansion: Identify and develop new business opportunities in the digital infrastructure space, focusing on terrestrial network expansion and backhaul technologies.
- Portfolio Management: Position the Wholesale business to retain key clients while aggressively pursuing a renewed focus on growing the current client base.
- Competitive Positioning: Monitor the landscape of data transmission and local access technologies to ensure SEACOM remains the preferred partner for Tanzanian operators.
Key Responsibilities: Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Core Tasks.
- Partnership Building: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including MNO executives, ISP owners, government bodies, and regulators.
- Client Retention: Manage and grow the current Wholesale client base, ensuring high levels of service delivery and contract renewals.
- Internal Synergy: Work in a matrixed environment, collaborating with functional areas (Technical, Legal, Finance) to ensure seamless execution of client requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Operational & Financial Oversight
Core Tasks.
- Compliance: Ensure all local commercial activities comply with industry standards and Tanzanian regulatory requirements.
- Financial Planning: Contribute to the MD’s financial planning and investment strategies for infrastructure projects, ensuring every deal is profitable.
Carry out all other reasonable and lawful instructions and generally doing all such things which, although not specifically referred to herein, are necessary and/or required for the due, proper, and efficient rendering of the services for the purposes contemplated by this role.
EDUCATION:
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 10-12 years of experience in the Telecommunications/ICT industry, specifically within the African market.
- Proven track record in managing Wholesale services and operations in Tanzania and neighbouring countries.
- Deep knowledge of fibre optics, submarine cables, backhaul, and data transmission.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and financial management.
- Proven ability to manage high-value accounts (multi-million USD portfolios).
- Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, networked organization.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex, diverse markets.
